A free morning with juice pressed from your own apples is a good use of a Saturday.

Barnes Common Ltd, a small charity, holds its annual Autumn Fayre at Vine Road Recreation Ground in Barnes on Saturday 17 October. Entry is free. The charity asks visitors to consider a donation.

The Eventbrite listing gives the hours as 10am to 4pm. All activities meet near the Pavilion.

Apple pressing is on the programme. Bring your own apples, or the organisers will provide some. About 1.5kg of apples gives 500ml of juice, and juice can be bought at a discount.

Fees apply to some walks and activities. Tickets can be bought on the day, by card or cash, or in advance through Eventbrite. The organiser says popular events may sell out and advises booking ahead.

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. Dogs must be on a short lead. They are not allowed on ticketed walks and activities, except guide dogs.

A free morning with juice pressed from your own apples is a good use of a Saturday. Anyone who wants a place on a ticketed activity should book before the day, not on it.
