St Paul's rowers win Head of the Charles again

The Barnes school's first VIII took a fourth straight Youth Eights title in Boston, in a faster time than any youth crew has rowed the course.

St Paul's School's first VIII won the Youth Eights at the Head of the Charles in Boston over half term, their fourth win in a row and a record-equalling fourth consecutive win for a single club. The crew covered the course in 14 minutes 11.5 seconds, faster than any youth crew has done before.

The official course record stayed out of reach. A time penalty for passing the wrong side of a buoy that had been dragged out of position denied them it. The buoy also affected the crews behind and did not change the finishing order. St Paul's coxed four finished 10th in Youth Fours, and the school's first coxed quad rose from 28th to 21st.

Four wins in a row is a better record than any buoy can take away.
